About Stamboul Train

Graham Greene's Stamboul Train (1932) — known in the US as Orient Express — was his first popular success and the first of his 'entertainments.' A political thriller following passengers on the Orient Express from Ostend to Istanbul, it established Greene's territory: the seedy world of crime and politics, moral complexity in transit, the city hotel as a site of danger. The novel launched his career and defined the British entertainment thriller.
