About No-No Boy
John Okada's No-No Boy (1957) follows Ichiro Yamada, a Japanese-American young man who returns to Seattle after two years in prison for refusing to serve in the US Army following his internment. Initially ignored on publication, it was rediscovered in the 1970s and is now recognized as the defining Japanese-American novel of the internment era.
