About Guns, Germs, and Steel

Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel (1997) won the Pulitzer Prize for its sweeping, evidence-based answer to why European and Asian civilizations came to dominate the world — arguing that the advantages weren't racial or cultural but geographic and ecological. Diamond followed it with Collapse (2005) and The World Until Yesterday (2012), together constituting a trilogy on the environmental and social determinants of human civilization.
