About Bleak House
Charles Dickens's Bleak House (1852–53) is considered by many critics the greatest English novel of the 19th century — an encyclopedic portrait of English society organized around the interminable Chancery lawsuit Jarndyce v Jarndyce, told by two narrators including the orphan Esther Summerson. Dickens's novels in recommended reading order: Great Expectations → Oliver Twist → David Copperfield → Bleak House → Little Dorrit → Our Mutual Friend.
