About Ulysses
James Joyce's Ulysses (1922) is the most celebrated and technically demanding novel in the English language — a portrait of a single day in Dublin following Leopold Bloom and Stephen Dedalus, structured on the Odyssey's parallel and using a different literary style for each of its 18 episodes. Joyce's works in recommended reading order: Dubliners (1914), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Ulysses (1922), and Finnegans Wake (1939).
