About To the Lighthouse

Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse (1927) is widely considered the masterpiece of literary modernism — a novel about a family's summer in the Scottish Hebrides rendered through stream of consciousness, in which a proposed trip to the lighthouse becomes a meditation on time, loss, and art. Woolf's other major novels include Mrs Dalloway (1925), The Waves (1931), and Orlando (1928). Mrs Dalloway is typically recommended as the first Woolf novel to read.
