About The Trial

Franz Kafka's The Trial (1925) is a standalone novel following Josef K., a bank officer arrested one morning without explanation, who spends the following year trying to navigate an incomprehensible legal system that never reveals what crime he is accused of. Published posthumously by Kafka's friend Max Brod, it is the foundational text of existentialist literature.
