About Three Sisters
Three Sisters (1900) by Anton Chekhov is the most emotionally devastating of the four great Chekhov plays — the Prozorov sisters Olga, Masha, and Irina, and their brother Andrei, in a provincial Russian town, sustained through four acts by the dream of returning to Moscow, and never going. One of the founding texts of twentieth-century theatrical naturalism; the final 'If only we knew, if only we knew!' is one of the most famous lines in drama.
