About The Odyssey
Homer's Odyssey (c. 8th century BCE) is one of the oldest and most influential works of Western literature — an epic poem following the ten-year journey of Odysseus (Ulysses) to return home to Ithaca after the fall of Troy, facing monsters, divine interventions, and temptations. The Odyssey, alongside the Iliad, defined the adventure narrative in Western literature and has influenced countless works over three millennia. Emily Wilson's 2017 translation is the most recommended contemporary version.
