About The Lonely Londoners

Sam Selvon's The Lonely Londoners (1956) follows Moses Aloetta and the community of West Indian immigrants who gravitate to him in mid-1950s London. Written in creolized English that blends Trinidadian dialect with Standard English, it is one of the founding texts of Black British literature and the most direct literary precursor to Andrea Levy's Small Island.
