About The Grapes of Wrath

John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath (1939) is a standalone novel following the Joad family — Oklahoma tenant farmers evicted during the Dust Bowl — on their westward migration along Route 66 to California, where they find not opportunity but exploitation. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 and a primary reason Steinbeck received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962.
