About The Emigrants
W.G. Sebald's The Emigrants (1992) comprises four narratives about emigration and exile — a Jewish teacher, a retired doctor, a painter, and Sebald's great-uncle — all of whom left Europe and could not fully inhabit any of the lives that followed. The most directly personal of Sebald's works in its engagement with the aftermath of the Holocaust.
