About Narnia
C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia (1950–1956) is a seven-volume fantasy series set in the magical land created and ruled over by the great Lion Aslan. Lewis and Tolkien were close friends at Oxford and members of the Inklings; both published foundational secondary world fantasy in the 1950s. The Chronicles of Narnia has been in continuous print since publication and has sold more than 100 million copies. Lewis recommended reading in chronological order (The Magician's Nephew first); most publishers and readers recommend publication order (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe first). The Christian allegory is explicit and intentional throughout the series.
