About Steinbeck
John Steinbeck (1902–1968) was an American novelist who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962 — the author of Of Mice and Men (1937), The Grapes of Wrath (1939), and East of Eden (1952), which together constitute the most compassionate fictional portrait of Depression-era California in American literature. Of Mice and Men is the ideal introduction: brief, perfectly structured, and the clearest expression of his sympathy for the dispossessed.
