About Night Circus
Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus (2011) is a standalone fantasy novel set in a mysterious black-and-white circus that arrives without warning and is open only at night. Inside the Cirque des Rêves, two young magicians — Celia Bowen and Marco Alisdair — are unwitting competitors in an ancient contest arranged by their teachers. They must build and maintain the circus's wonders, but they were never told the rules, or how the game ends. The Night Circus became a cult classic for its dreamlike prose, intricate world-building, and the sense that the circus itself is the true protagonist.
