About Miss Julie
Miss Julie (1888) by August Strindberg is the founding text of Naturalist drama — the count's daughter Julie and the valet Jean on Midsummer's Eve, the seduction that destroys them both, and the question of who has destroyed whom. Written in a single week in 1888; the preface is as important as the text. Premiered in Copenhagen after being refused a license in Sweden; one of the most frequently performed Strindberg plays.
