Seneca's Letters from a Stoic (c. 63–65 CE) is the most humanely written of all the Stoic texts — 124 letters to his friend Lucilius on friendship, time, death, poverty, illness, and what it means to live well. Written in the final years of Seneca's life during retirement from Nero's court, they are philosophical, personal, and remarkably contemporary — and with Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and the Discourses of Epictetus, they form the complete Stoic canon.
