About King Lear
King Lear (c. 1605–1606) — Shakespeare's greatest tragedy: the old king who divides his kingdom based on flattery, disowns the honest Cordelia, is stripped of power by Goneril and Regan, driven mad on the heath, and carries the hanged Cordelia in his arms at the end. The most devastating ending in Shakespeare and one of the supreme works of world literature.
