About Invisible Man
Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man (1952) is a standalone National Book Award–winning novel following a nameless Black narrator from his expulsion from a Southern Black college through his involvement with a Communist-inspired political organization in Harlem to his underground retreat. Ellison's only published novel and one of the most important American novels of the twentieth century.
