About Doctor Zhivago

Boris Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago (1957) is a standalone novel following Yuri Zhivago, a Russian doctor and poet, from the 1890s through the Revolution and Civil War, and his love for Lara Antipova. Suppressed in the Soviet Union and published first in Italian, it led to Pasternak being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958 — which Soviet pressure forced him to decline.
