A Doll's House (1879) by Henrik Ibsen is the founding text of modern dramatic feminism — Nora Helmer's decision to leave her husband Torvald and her children to find out who she is. The door slam at the end is one of the most famous sounds in theater history. The most performed Ibsen play and one of the most performed plays in the world; the 1879 alternative ending (Nora stays) was written under protest and is not the legitimate text.
